Small Business Server
With the ever increasing number of Small to Medium Enterprises in today's marketplaces Novell and Microsoft both have maintained and upgraded their respective Small Business Server Suites. The general purpose of a Small Business Server (SBS) is to accommodate the smaller company who may not have budgets available for multiple servers and separate licenses. SBS tackles those problems by allowing all the software a business needs to be installed on a single box and accommodates up to approximately 75 users.
- Directory for Users, Groups, Other objects
- Secure file storage
- Internet hosting
- Email & Collaboration software
- Workstation management
Due to the popularity of SBS Solutions within smaller organisations, other vendors have combined their products into 'small business' suites. A Good example of this is Symantec Backup Exec. Symantec have packaged the software, exchange and SQL agents within one SBS suite for sale at a fraction of the cost of purchasing the agents separately.
Having a single server also reduces the Support and Maintenance Costs over the long term thus SDS's support contracts are considerably less for a Small Business Server.
SDS has specialised in both Novell and Microsoft Small Business Servers and regularly install and support both systems within the SME market.
